Switch Microsoft Windows 10 from RAID/IDE to AHCI

Here is a way to switch the RAID with Intel Rapid Storage Technology to AHCI in Microsoft Windows 10 without having to reinstall the operating systems.

  1. Click at the Start Button and type cmd
  2. Right click at the Command Prompt
  3. Select Run as administrator
  4. Type the below command and press ENTER:
    bcdedit /set {current} safeboot minimal
    or
    bcdedit /set safeboot minimal
  5. Restart the computer and enter BIOS Setup
  6. Change the SATA Operation mode from either IDE or RAID to AHCI
  7. Save changes and exit BIOS Setup
  8. Microsoft Windows 10 will automatically boot to Safe Mode
  9. Right click at the Windows Start Menu once more
  10. Choose Command Prompt (Admin)
  11. Type the below command and press ENTER:
    bcdedit /deletevalue {current} safeboot
    or
    bcdedit /deletevalue safeboot
  12. Reboot the computer
  13. Microsoft Windows 10 will start with AHCI enabled
